02/Apr/12 Wallabies Rugby Union World Cup Coach visits Pimalai
In March, there was a famous rugby figure in Thailand who found time to visit us at Pimalai. This was in the person of Bob Dwyer who coached the Australian Wallabies to victory at the 1991 Rugby Union World Cup. He was also recently inducted into the IRB Hall of Fame. Prior to visiting Pimalai, Mr Dwyer was in Phuket to hold the first of three coaching workshops. As well as offering his experience to coaches and players throughout South-East Asia over three weekends, Dwyer's presence brings other benefits to the region. He was guest speaker at a dinner to raise funds for the Asian Centre Foundation scholarship program and the Phuket Lomas Rugby Youth development program. The Lomas were set up to help orphaned and disadvantaged Thai children from the 2004 tsunami, with an emphasis on education as well as sport. On completion of his coaching duties, Bob Dwyer was invited by Pimalai to enjoy rest & relaxation in one of the Pimalai stunning pool villas.
